Remedial massage techniques
are designed to encourage the body into quick
repair.

A remedial massage treatment is suggested
when there is an injury to the soft tissue of the
body and works to increase blood flow and or
assist relaxation or reduced stress to the injured
area.

Injuries will repair more quickly with this type of
treatment - in up to half the time of other types of
traditional treatments.

Trigger Point Therapy

An acupuncturist inserts tiny needles across the various
acupuncture points (also referred to as acupoints)
throughout the body in order to unblock and restore physical
and mental health and balance to the human body. Trigger
Point Therapy, on the other hand, is non-intrusive and it
doesn't employ the insertion of thin needles. It does concern
the stimulation of the same pattern of meridians; however
these are stimulated through touch.

Trigger Point Therapy has been used as a way to relax the
mind and body, to increase blood circulation, soothe stress,
muscle pain, headache, improve overall energy levels, and to
help the body dispose of dangerous toxins. Trigger Point
Therapy's origin is traced back over 5000 years to ancient
Asia where it was used to treat a wide range of health
conditions like muscle and joint injury, labor pain,
fibromyalgia, and arthritis. For example if the Trigger Point
Therapist applies light pressure with their fingers, hands or
elbows on a clients abdomen its thought to soothe abdominal
congestion and menstrual discomfort.
Myofascial Release Technique

Myofascial Release is a  therapy consisting of a mixture of
light stretching and massage work. During a session, the
therapist will apply hands-on massage strokes in order to
release tension from the fibrous bands of the muscles,
bones, nerves and joints, by unblocking any scar tissue or
adhesions due to injury in the muscles and surrounding
tissues.

The therapist will often use moderate traction and twisting
strokes to apply the appropriate tension on the soft tissue,
and to achieve a full reflex range of the muscle. This slow
and subtle technique can be used to unblock fascia and
muscle throughout the body restoring total physical
harmony.
Deep Tissue Massage

Deep muscle therapy is performed by a qualified deep muscle
massage therapist in order to help release myofascial
restrictions within the body. The theory behind this type of
massage is that when chronic knots (also referred to as
adhesions) exist within the deep muscle tissues, the body's
natural blood flow is restricted.

Until the natural balance is restored, injured fibrous tissues
can cause chronic joint and muscle pain, poor posture and
coordination, as well as a plethora of other health ailments.

Deep muscle therapy aims to relieve the chronic tension
throughout the muscles and fibrous tissues within the body.
Its known to greatly increase flexibility and range of motion,
and its also known to greatly improve posture and restore the
body's natural harmony.
Prenatal Massage

Massage During Pregnancy

Therapeutic massage has been used for centuries to
improve overall health, reduce stress, and relieve muscle
tension. Pregnant women have often received ambivalent
responses from the health community regarding the safety
and purpose of massage during pregnancy.

Modern investigation and research is proving that prenatal
massage therapy can be a very instrumental ingredient in
women’s prenatal care and should be given careful
consideration.

Muscle Energy Technique

Muscle energy is a direct and active technique; meaning it engages
a restrictive barrier and requires the patient's participation for
maximal effect. As the patient performs an isometric contraction, the
following physiologic changes occur:

* Golgi tendon organ activation results in direct inhibition of agonist
muscles
* A reflexive reciprocal inhibition occurs at the antagonistic muscles
* As the patient relaxes, agonist and antagonist muscles remain
inhibited allowing the joint to be moved further into the restricted
range of motion.

Studies have shown that muscle energy techniques can significantly
decrease disability and improve functionality in patients with
disorders such as low back pain.
Positional Release Technique

Positional release technique uses comfortable body positions
and the release of tender points to relieve pain and
discomfort. The main goal of the therapy is to improve the
health and functioning of the body as a whole by correcting
any imbalances of the musculoskeletal system.

Tender points are localized areas found in the muscle tissue,
which are used as indicators of the location of the
dysfunctions and also used to determine when reduction of
the discomfort has occurred. Once these areas of pain have
been located, the body is placed into a comfortable position
in order to reduce the discomfort in that specific area of the
body. This position of comfort is then held for 30 seconds to
one minute depending on the nature of the dysfunction.
Myofascial Cupping

Massage cupping, or suction cupping, is a treatment option for
people who deal with chronic pain on a regular basis.

Massage cupping is a  technique used for breaking up localized
congestion, increasing circulation and improving the health and
well-being of the body.

This process  uses the power of suction to draw blood to the area
that is experiencing pain, and supply nutrients for healing.

If you suffer from back pain, neck pain, or any type of chronic
pain,  cupping therapy can be a beneficial treatment method.

In most cases, the process is not painful, and can be completed in
a short time frame.

In addition to relieving pain, suction cupping massage can relieve
inflammation and cramps.
Remedial Massage is often used as a less aggressive
treatment for
plantar fasciitis, especially in the early
stages. Here's an article describing the treatment

Plantar fasciitis can also be known as heel pain syndrome
and heel spur syndrome (Dyck, 2004). This disorder affects
the hind foot, specifically the insertion of the plantar
aponeurosis at the medial cancaneal tubercle (Dyck, 2004).
The signs and symptoms associated with plantar fasciitis are
produced by the excessive load or tension to this area, which
forms an anchor around the longitudinal arch of the foot
(Dyck, 2004). Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of
inferior heel pain; the word ‘fasciitis’ assumes inflammation is
an inherent component of this condition (Kuhar, 2007). The
pain is usually caused by collagen degeneration (which is
sometimes misnamed ‘chronic inflammation’) at the origin of
the plantar fascia at the medial tubercle of the calcaneus.
This degeneration is similar to the chronic necrosis of
tendonosis, which features loss of collagen continuity,
increases in ground substance (matrix of connective tissue)
and vascularity, and the presence of fibroblasts rather than
the inflammatory cells usually seen with the acute
inflammation of tendonitis...
